Tewksbury Dental Associates will be sponsoring the local charity Neighbors in Need again this year through the Zero Waste Day event being held at the Wynn Middle School parking lot on Saturday, September 23, from 9am to 1pm. Each year approximately 500 drive-thru donors participate in Zero Waste Day saving tons of usable items from Tewksbury’s waste stream and putting those donations into the hands of our neighbors in need. The event also recycles 20K+ lbs. of electronics, tires, and batteries!
We are so proud to be active members of a vibrant and compassionate community like Tewksbury! Our volunteer TDA team members will be onsite at the event to help with the drop off and share complimentary ZWD tote bags full of goodies from participating sponsors. If you have unwanted items in good condition that can be reused like clothing, furniture, baby gear, books, pet supplies, and household items bring them down! Zero Waste Day organizers can also accept and recycle tires, cell phones, batteries, and paper for free! They will also take TVs, monitors, and electronics for a nominal cash fee.
All of the community partners who participate contribute sponsorship to local charitable organizations like Neighbors in Need. Neighbors In Need helps to combat hunger in the greater Lawrence area at 11 Food Pantries. In order to serve those with limited access to food, Neighbors In Need Food Pantries are strategically located in the neighborhoods of Lawrence and Methuen. All residents of low-income census tracts in Lawrence live within ½ mile of a weekly Pantry operated by Neighbors In Need. This unique distributed model of food means that everyone can walk to a Neighbors In Need pantry. Other charities supported by sponsorship and by your donations at Zero Waste Day include:
Bikes Not Bombs, Boston Building Resources, Central Mass Mosquito Control Community Giving Tree, Epilepsy Foundation, Junk Depot, Lazarus House, Lowell Humane Society, M&K Recovery Group, Mission of Deeds, More Than Words, MSPCA/Nevins Farm, Paper Retriever Project, Home Again, Ruth’s House
We encourage you to join us by participating in this day of caring for others in the community. Take some time to clean out your closets, basements, attics and garages, and enjoy a short drive to the Wynn Middle School parking lot where volunteers will unload your vehicle and ensure that your items reach the right donation or recycling truck. Spread the word and we cannot wait to see you there!
